Questions to Nottingham Labour

Some questions that have been posed to Nottingham Conservatives, so far without the courtesy of a reply.

Dec 2018:

A report quotes Sarah Newton MP as saying " there are now one million fewer people living in absolute poverty compared with 2010.”

This seemed at odds with the evidence of increased food bank use; a scathing report on austerity from the UK; and countless tales of callousness from the DWP and their contractors.

But the data appears to agree with Newtons comment. Government research shows :
8.9 million (14%) were in absolute low income, before housing costs - down 500,000 from the year before.
12.4 million (19%) were in absolute low income, after housing costs - down 400,000 from the year before.

In addition, Full Fact have looked into poverty figures and their summary suggests that absolute poverty has drifting downwards since 2010.

My questions is to ask you whether it is correct a large number of people have been lifted out of absolute poverty since 2010?
