The Tropical Butterfly House, Sheffield

BFTF, MrsBFTF and No3Son recently visited the rather wonderful Tropical Butterfly House near Sheffield and BFTF thought it might be nice to share a few pictures from the day...

The Actual Butterfly House, of course, had many large and wonderful butterflies floating around.....

I'm sure you don't need me to tell you, but this is a butterfly

But also many other creatures, ranging from snakes to the largest stick insects that BFTF has ever seen...

Stick Insect? More like Stick Branch

...to a colony of leaf cutter ants.

Another popular feature was the Meerkat Mansion that housed Meerkats (like, duh) as well as a pair of rather groovy looking porcupines...

At the first sign of trouble, this little fella would play an alarm on the bongo drums, allegedly

...there was also a tiny baby meerkat, who the staff said was out and about a bit earlier that he/she should have been.

Can you see the baby Meerkat

Pretty much every 30mins during the day there was some kind of display or chance to interact with the animals. These includes a number of bird displays...

We were warned that Odin the Crow might harass the audience "in order to get a reacton"

The staff are also teaching Odin to paint...

And of course, there were lots of other creatures to see...

The Peacocks were gorgeous but the riders they demanded were outrageous..allegedly

This pic of a great tit almost looks professional
